Torah study is one of the foundations of Jewish life. It has preserved the conscience of a people scattered across continents and centuries. There are people, even within Israel, who scoff at it, who treat it as superstition or a relic of exile. Their hostility is not worth answering here. No serious Jewish thinker disputes the sanctity of Torah study. But holiness does not excuse hypocrisy, and faith is not a hall pass from duty. When Torah becomes a political tool rather than a moral compass, it does not elevate the nation. It disgraces it.
