A lawsuit filed in Pennsylvania state court alleges that Camp Dora Golding, a summer camp for boys in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, failed to protect a minor camper from repeated sexual abuse by its former Assistant Director Binyamin Daiches. The anonymous plaintiff, identified as John Doe, attended the camp between 2004 and 2010 and has filed suit against the camp, its Executive Director Alexander Gold, and Daiches himself. The legal action claims the camp's leadership was negligent in allowing the abuse to occur and failed to protect campers from unlawful sexual conduct despite having knowledge of concerning behavior.
According to the complaint, Daiches allegedly groomed the victim over several years by showing him excessive attention, excusing him from camp activities for private one-on-one time, and taking him off camp premises in camp vehicles. The grooming allegedly culminated in repeated sexual abuse and rape in 2010 when the victim was 13 years old and particularly vulnerable following his father's death. The lawsuit details specific instances of abuse, including rape in Daiches' camp bungalow and office, as well as forced oral sex during a golf cart ride after curfew.
The lawsuit alleges that Camp Dora Golding and Executive Director Gold were aware of Daiches' inappropriate conduct, which was so obvious that it drew comments from other campers and staff. Despite this knowledge and the camp's alleged history of receiving reports about inappropriate behavior by staff members, the leadership failed to investigate or take protective action. The complaint includes claims of negligence against the camp and Gold, assault and battery charges against Daiches, and negligent infliction of emotional distress against all defendants.
