I've never seen or heard anything about Soffer that could remotely be construed as antisemitic. He's not a self loather and Miami Beach has an enormous Jewish population and is still home to a substantial Orthodox community.

Rabbi Boteach is capable of being quite obnoxious. I hope he's wrong about Soffer.

I agree he can be obnoxious, and I am kinda happy the courts are telling him “stop it”

The Jews have enough to worry about without Boteach making false accusations.

The dude put his phone up to his chest and said “Allahu Akbar” hoping for a response he could cry Islamophobia about. He is a devious aggressor who is playing for an audience.

Rabbi Boteach was on the wrong side of law on taping. The hotel is private property, BUT only a duly apptd agent of the hotel can ask someone to stop taping. Regardless, it doesn’t ever justify violence or menacing gestures.

People who hate Boteach or find him annoying will defend this guy or ignore the details. No one has a carte blanche to intimidate people deemed obnoxious, etc. Did we learn that in pre school?

I am biased towards Boteach for sure, but I am certain the evidence supports him, bias be damned.

I am sooooo glad he taped this interaction. Not legal, but moral. We would not see what kind of vile hate is out there and how it is pushed aside for the sake of the hotel’s business reputation

Your post is clearly biased against Boteach, in terms of your remarks on him and your presentation of the facts. Save some time and tell your readers you are against him

I’m biased against Boteach? I’ve stood up for him many times over.

That said, in the case of the Fontainebleau, he’s in the wrong. I know the owner, the management, have worked on projects there for years and. i know the rabbi. He’s quite a character and can be very disruptive and obnoxious. He’s also done many good things.

The Fontainebleau ownership is Jewish, not antisemitic/antizionist leftist activist. They’re about business. It’s a a landmark iconic institution. It’s fucking Miami Beach, not exactly Mamdanistan a Florida has a governor who has no tolerance for antisemitism

It's clear that the hotel did nothing wrong in this case. The "rabbi" has lost his mind.

This sadly seems like a Jewish proprietor prioritizing this enterprise over the safety of guests. I will learn much more about particulars but these things resolve quickly with an apology, some form of restitution and renewed commitment to preventing this crap.

The “shake down” allegation sounds suspect.

Watching the video, there is one side that is objectively worse (Mr Allahu Akbar, jabs at son in IDF) than the other. The material part is the smiling security guard. The gesture of support (started by the libellous baby killer guy granted) but was received and not stopped by the guard.

“You’re lucky we’re in America.” I wonder what he means?? That is a physical threat by any reasonable person standard). The security guard - acting as an agent of the hotel- was an ineffectual mess in response to that.

I really don’t care about the Jewishness of the owner. This is negligence. I don’t care if the owner is a super Hebrew, I watched and heard an interaction. This shows no signs of being a both sides altercation when someone issues veiled threats.
