Friends of the Israeli Defense Forces have started to admit what has been widely known for some time - they strategically and intentionally used funds that were given for the “emergency” war effort on non-emergency items.
While thousands of soldiers needed to privately fundraise for basic protective equipment, gas money and other essential items, FIDF was fundraising under the guise of an “emergency campaign” and then putting a significant amount of money away for later use.
In today’s “FIDF briefing” CEO Steven Weil and Nadav Padan outlined why the organization allegedly needs another $65M of contributions to the campaign to meet the evolving needs.
There are still major gaps in equipment within the IDF and it is unclear why FIDF would put university funding ahead of, say, medical bags or protective eyewear for soldiers. Take a listen to what Weil has to say and more specifically what he does not say - there is no mention of basic equipment, urgent medical needs in the field or any other emergency needs of frontline soldiers.
