Anat Guetta and Eliot Penn believe that now is the time to invest in Israeli companies and eloquently argued the point yesterday in the Wall Street Journal.
A few questions:
How are outside investors supposed to trust the Israeli economy when Israel as a state has failed to provide basic equipment to its citizens on the front lines?
Thousands of Jews in the diaspora have fundraised hundreds of millions of dollars for protective equipment for soldiers in the IDF. The IDF has declared that there is no equipment shortage and that it is a waste of time and money. How do outside investors trust Israeli institutions when Israel’s military institution, the IDF, is lying on such a grand scale and endangering the lives of its soldiers?
Israel’s tech-sector promotes itself as “Start Up Nation” and there is a real pride in the fact that Israelis will take risks and speak their minds. Yet, within the army process it has been extraordinarily difficult to get rank and file soldiers to put their names on genuine requests for gear out of fear of upsetting the established system. How do we reconcile these parallel realities?
The BDS movement is a disgusting, anti-Semitic movement. I am of the political right.I ask these questions as someone who loves the Jewish people, Israel and genuinely wants answers.
