In moments of institutional failure, clarity is an act of courage. I write today not to provoke scandal, nor to undermine the vital work of those laboring under the banner of Friends of the IDF (FIDF), but to tell the truth—plainly, urgently, and without adornment. The goal is singular: to ensure that every dollar donated in good faith reaches its intended destination, in the most effective and honest way possible. That means supporting soldiers who risk their lives, employees who give their time, and donors who offer their trust. When those sacred obligations are violated, silence becomes complicity.
Let us be very clear. Any suggestion that I raise these issues out of personal animus, ego, or rivalry is demonstrably false. It is spin, weaponized to protect entrenched interests. This kind of accusation is the refuge of those who fear accountability and would rather smear a critic than answer his questions. What I want, what every moral person should want, is a world in which every Israeli soldier has the gear, protection, and support they need, when they need it, without delay or deception.
And let me say this plainly. If FIDF were to devote its mission entirely to trauma care, rehabilitation, bereavement, and other non-frontline needs, I would support that. There is honor in that work. But there is no honor in marketing one purpose and delivering another. There is no integrity in soliciting funds for urgent needs while quietly restricting what those needs are allowed to be or hinting that soldiers begging for upgraded equipment are simply spoiled brats. Institutions must tell the truth. That is not a radical standard. It is the bare minimum.
At stake here is not only the material well-being of those on the front lines, but the moral credibility of a Jewish philanthropic ecosystem that cannot afford another crack in its foundation. My hope is not to destroy. My hope is to repair. And that requires light, not shadow; truth, not spin; and above all, the conviction that integrity is not optional. It is the mission.
