Federal prosecutors have pulled Counts 6 and 7 from the case against Alon, Oren, and Tal Alexander. Those charges centered on allegations that, in June 2009, the brothers trafficked two women through force, fraud, or coercion. They were direct, substantive counts, not part of a broader conspiracy theory. To win on those charges, the government would have had to convince the jury that the defendants actually used force, threats, fraud, or coercion to cause commercial sex acts. That question will now never reach the jury.
This is a major victory for the defense.
