The IDF was wildly unprepared for multiple ground offensives that would take over one calendar year. That’s a fact.
What has been more perplexing is why certain members of the IDF leadership have refused to responsibly manage equipment safety. Why are helmets from 1979 - which are no longer functional - still being issued to soldiers? Why hasn’t there been a massive recall of equipment that is clearly not functional?
In February, a team within the IDF issued a document that outlined which helmets were “acceptable” according to “IDF Standard.” The document was signed off by Aluf Mishnei Roi Siman Tov.
Here’s the first part of the list of “acceptable” helmets:
Siman Tov included a helmet from Rabintex - a company that has been out of business for over a decade - with a brand new helmet from Opscore.
There’s also a photo of an Orlite helmet - Orlite has also been out of business for over a decade. Their helmets simply don’t work.
How can Roi Siman Tov be trusted with the safety and security of Israeli soldiers when he failed to recall these dangerous helmets?
Just yesterday a soldier was seriously injured when his IDF issued helmet failed against shrapnel:

The shrapnel penetrated the helmet and the helmet was deformed from the impact. A proper tactical helmet from 2024 would certainly do a better job.
Will Siman Tov publicly defend his decision to allow these helmets into combat? Everyone who cares about the lives of IDF soldiers is waiting for an answer.
