After months of social media posts targeting the Fontainebleau Hotel and its attorneys, a judge has recommended stripping Boteach of his defenses and entering judgment against him.
I used to like Rabbi Shmuley back in the day when he wrote Kosher Sex and he had some humility and a sense of humor. He has had some set backs: His relationship and trust in Michael Jackson blew up in his face. His friendship w Cory Booker (which I think was genuine) went south, probably for complex reasons. I believe, but am not certain, that his own Shul essentially fired him because he wasn’t a particularly good Rabbi. Instead of learning from his defeats, he just got worse and worse. Now, he is unbearably self righteous and he can never simply be wrong. It’s really a shame because he was a hugely talented communicator. I saw him live once at a local Shul and he really had charisma. It is a shame what he has brought on himself and I feel sorry for him and for his family.
