Yair Golan, a former Deputy Chief of Staff in the IDF, recently declared: “A sane country does not kill babies for a hobby.”
Let that sink in. Not from Hamas. Not from Iran. From someone who once wore the uniform of the Israeli military.
This is one of the most reckless and slanderous statements ever made by an Israeli official—and it’s already being weaponized. Now the enemies of Israel can quote a former general to justify their blood libels. Antisemitic mobs on campus no longer need to invent lies; they can simply cite Golan and claim it as “truth from the inside.”
This isn’t just disgraceful—it’s dangerous.
Golan has made life significantly more difficult for diaspora Jewry, especially Jewish students who are already under siege on college campuses. He has handed our adversaries a loaded gun and told them exactly where to aim.
His statement will not bring peace. It will not protect Palestinian lives. What it will do is fuel the growing fire of antisemitism, legitimize violence against Jews in the diaspora, and erode the moral clarity required to stand against terrorism.
Criticizing government policy is one thing. Accusing your own country of murdering children “for a hobby” is blood libel—and when it comes from a former IDF leader, it gives the lie a credibility that makes it even more insidious.
We are living in a moment where clarity matters. Words have consequences. And Yair Golan’s words have made Jews less safe—everywhere.

I agree. I am stunned that he could say this.
