These criticisms are unserious.

Hen Mazzig: “I’m brown, gay, and in an interfaith relationship. Israel is my home and the home for every kind of Jew” is not a fringe voice.

He has defended Israel unequivocally throughout the Gaza operation.

The claim that Tides is some shadowy, untraceable entity is nonsense. The funding sources are publicly accessible. The ease of discovery undermines the entire premise of your post.

Tides operates a well-known hybrid model: donor advised funds (DAFs) alongside direct grantmaking. So when TBE says they receive nothing from Tides, they’re correct and the implication that this discredits them is both confused and irrelevant.

As for the Zionist rebranding you find so repellent, it’s not fringe. It’s mainstream American Zionism. If your threshold for rejection includes anyone who frames Israel as a progressive outpost in a hostile region, you’re likely rejecting the rhetorical stance of 75% of American Zionists.

Tel Aviv is routinely marketed as “the gayest city in the Middle East.” At the start of the Gaza war, images circulated of an IDF soldier proudly displaying a rainbow flag. “Queers for Palestine” is mocked relentlessly. Emily Damari’s lesbianism was underscored in numerous news articles as proof of Israel’s progressiveness and superiority to the primitive Palestinians.

Honestly, what is your point?

"He has defended Israel unequivocally throughout the Gaza operation."

He has literally accused the government of abandoning Israel's interests and acting only out of concern for their political interests. If you don't agree with him then you are an "extremist." Can we agree that there's a way to participate in a "big tent conversation" without labeling any other opinion as an extremist? Hen thrives on smearing anyone who doesn't agree with his brand of "Zionism."

Mazzig, along with hundreds of thousands of other Israelis, has criticized *the government* - not Israel, or its moral foundations.

Nice to see you caved on the subject of shadowy funding, and you won't even touch the broader issue of selling Israel as a progressive haven, which is truly what we're discussing here.

Mazzig says anyone who disagrees with him is an "extremist" (I'm not sure that's true, but I'll conceded it for argument's sake) - while you accuse him of being anti-Israel? Pot kettle black.

Oh gosh. Please don’t try these games. Of course you can criticize the government. There’s a way to engage in the conversation without attacking all of your enemies as extremists and responsible for bloodshed. By trying to portray his views as the absolute center, Hen repeatedly attacks anyone who doesn’t agree with him. Have you seen his twitter feed?

What purpose does it serve you to attack without full proof of wrongdoing a Jew who has spent more than a decade in defense of Israel and Jews in the diaspora - he advocated tirelessly for years in support of students in campus - he has been internationally recognized for his work and has attracted hundreds of thousands praised for his candidness -whether you agree or disagree with his political views he is a staunch supporter- try going after Hamas and all the hate and violence they perpetuate .

We have way too many enemies to indulge in purity tests like this.
