I must admit I am sick and tired of endless episodes of American Jews behaving like frightened sheep. What did they think would happen? Synagogues have been targeted for years. And did they really think Mamdani would condemn the harassment, when he would have been front and centre only a couple of years ago?
“We need to make them scared” is exactly what the Jewish community should have done with these IslamoNazi thugs months ago. Where are the hundreds of highly trained and fit young men on our side - dressed all in black including face coverings - who can provide security - and a correspondingly appropriate sense of menace? NYC has a million Jews. And why haven’t these Jew haters been exposed - to their families, friends, employers? Their social media accounts trolled? They have become emboldened by two plus years of hiding, whining and complaining and wimpy nonresponses.
The only way to deal with bullies is to stand up to them and make them understand there are consequences. And don’t expect law enforcement or politicians to do more than bleat condemnations, if that.
Here’s just one idea: advertise a mock Israeli event. When the haters come they are welcomed by a huge banner saying “only losers blame the Jew scapegoat for their personal failures - losers exposed!” and the like. With a corresponding group of strong Jews as described above filming the humiliation live.
Without a sea change within the Jewish community to prioritize strong and decisive responses, dispelling the view that Jews are no longer weak victims from the ghetto, such bullying behaviour will only escalate.

We need to stop using words like "mob" and "agitator" and "protest/protester". None of these words describe either the people involved, their actions, or their purpose.
They are terrorists. Genocidal, antisemitic terrorists. They were not there to "agitate" or "protest". They were there, at best, to practice the pogroms to come, if not commit one that very night.
Mamdani did not make "excuses". He gave explicit permission for this to happen again, and again. He gave assurances that there will be no consequences in his NYC for being part of a genocidal terrorist mob, as long as its against Jews.
We need, at a bare minimum, to be screaming from whatever rooftop we have, about exactly what these people are, what they want, and how far they are willing to go to get it.
"Protesters did not gather at a distance. They positioned themselves directly at the synagogue entrance"
This was a decision by the NYPD which has the authority to require demonstrators to stand behind a barrier. They chose to leave that close to the entrance.
I feel concern for the 70% of NYC Jews who did not vote for Mamdani. On the other hand, could there have been a more effective way to convince NYC Jews to make aliyah?
As to Mamdani, something like this statement would be appropriate:
“ We are sure that our esteemed mayor elect would agree that indigenous rights are sacred and of the highest moral imperative. We welcome mayor elect Mamdani to learn about the thousands of years of history of the Jewish people inextricably linked to their indigenous homeland, and about the miracle of its rebirth - the most successful decolonization movement in history, fully endorsed and supported by international law at its inception.”
Thank you. Especially this on point:”This was not moral leadership. It was moral inversion. It was the transformation of victims into culprits and of aggressors into people with understandable grievances. It told the mob that their tactics were legitimate. It told the Jewish community that their religious life is subject to political approval.
What Mamdani offered was not leadership. It was an alibi for bigotry.“
Our mission statement that expresses our love and yearning for the Land of Israel is Chumash Tanach and our Siddur We will not be intimidated by raucous illiterate mobs

Very Scary for NY Jews

We absolutely need to start fighting back. We can’t outsource our safety.
What happens when a religion stops being about God and becomes all about colonization and killing anyone who stands in their way?

Daniel: Excellent analysis. I also enjoyed your pod with Jonathon Pollard tremendously
Where was current mayor Eric Adams? Why did he allow this to happen on his watch?
I think all NYC synagogues should make plans to host NbN - we should not bow down to intimidation.
