Justice, in its truest sense, not only requires accountability when guilt is established but equally demands acknowledgment when innocence is unequivocally demonstrated. The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office has now dismissed the sexual battery charges against real estate broker Ohad Fisherman, a concession that starkly underscores how perilously close they came to destroying an innocent man's life without sufficient evidence.
The accusations leveled against Fisherman were severe, alleging his complicity in a brutal assault involving Oren and Alon Alexander on New Year's Eve 2016. Such charges, by their very nature, carry immense reputational harm, damage that often proves irreparable. Yet, as the trial neared, prosecutors faced irrefutable evidence supporting Fisherman’s innocence.
Central to this belated vindication was incontrovertible drone footage Fisherman himself shared on social media. Metadata confirmed beyond doubt that he was aboard a boat along the Intracoastal Waterway precisely when the alleged assault occurred. The prosecutors themselves admitted the significance of this evidence, stating, “This video evidence casts doubt. We determined in good faith that we could not prove the case against Ohad Fisherman.”
Yet this admission arrives far too late, long after Fisherman was publicly dragged from his honeymoon, humiliated, and paraded before the press,a spectacle devoid of due diligence or credible evidence. In America, 2025, such prosecutorial recklessness is not merely unacceptable; it is morally indefensible.
The dismissal of Fisherman’s charges now casts a glaring spotlight on the broader prosecution against the Alexander brothers. If prosecutors could nearly railroad Fisherman with such scant evidence, what genuine proof, if any, exists against the Alexanders? This troubling question demands immediate scrutiny.
Dropping charges alone is insufficient remedy for the profound injustice inflicted upon Fisherman. He deserves an explicit acknowledgment of error and a public apology from prosecutors who nearly destroyed an innocent man's life without adequate investigation. The integrity of our justice system hinges not only on the pursuit of guilt but on the unequivocal recognition of innocence.
Ohad Fisherman deserves nothing less.
